Hetland Hall

The restaurant was in a beautiful room, with booths and tables in different sizes, and the varied menu had some interesting local touches. Sophie and Sam were friendly and attentive, and there were plenty of staff on hand. Our two-night DBB stay was a pleasure, from Holly’s warm welcome at reception to our personal, caring checkout with her. The bar was cozy, well stocked, and had a good atmosphere. The building and our room were lovely, and everyone seemed to care. It’s also well placed for exploring the Dumfries coast and countryside. What a great find.

We stayed in the Solway Suite, which was amazing. Dinner and breakfast were both very good, with generous portions. The bar staff were friendly, though it was quiet when we went in after our meal. There were lovely log fires in the bar and lobby sitting area. We’ll definitely be back.

We’d definitely ask for room 104 again. My partner and I have just come back from a Valentine’s night away, and everything was spot on, from the food to the hotel’s cleanliness. Receptionist Cyprian was especially helpful and answered all our questions. It was probably one of the best hotel stays we’ve had, and we’ll certainly return.

The country house atmosphere was a big part of what we loved, it felt different from a hotel. We also had beautiful views over the Solway, and the rooms, food, and staff were all wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We’re looking forward to coming back soon.
