Imperial Hotel

The main evening meals were so disappointing that they spoiled an otherwise lovely hotel stay. I’ve been with Daish before and never had food like this, or had reason to complain. Three slices of sandwich ham with gravy isn’t honey roast gammon. The roast potatoes were hard and awful, and the garlic mushrooms were three button mushrooms floating in some tasteless goo. I’m booked to return at Easter and hope things improve. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, breakfast was really good and the waiters very efficient. The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, and the location was great. I can’t fault the hotel apart from the meals. Such a shame.

Just got home after five nights, and it was the best hotel stay I’ve ever had. The rooms were clean, the food outstanding and the staff went above and beyond. Everything was amazing. I’d recommend this hotel 100%. We’re even thinking of a summer break there too. Definitely coming back.

The food was reasonable for the price, there was evening entertainment, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. It’s ideally placed by the seafront. Parking permits are really cheap and free on Sunday. We didn’t like the lifts, so we used the stairs. Our front room got some road noise, and we had two noisy neighbours who stayed up late and banged around early. There isn’t much sound insulation. For the price, I can’t complain.

The hotel is in an excellent spot, an easy walk to the beach and town centre. The drinks were good value and the entertainment reasonable. I had a small double room that looked tired, with an English plug socket that had been out of use since 1947, as the attached picture showed. There was no Wi-Fi in the bedroom, which was very annoying. The restaurant food was poor quality, and some of our group sent theirs back. Maria, the waitress, was friendly and helpful. The safe bet is the tuna, baked potato and salad.
