Apex Grassmarket Hotel

We picked this place for the private parking and stayed five nights. It’s really well located, with a view of the castle and Victoria Street and the Vennel steps less than a minute away. All the sights are walkable. The staff were very helpful when we extended our stay. I’d recommend it.

My room was huge, with a really comfortable big bed, both a bath and shower, and plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The hospitality was warm and the service excellent. Apex Grassmarket Hotel is right in the city centre, close to famous Victoria Street and with a lovely castle view. I enjoyed staying here and would gladly come back.

We loved the little extras, like being welcomed with mulled wine and mincemeat pies for no particular reason. Those thoughtful gestures made the stay feel special. There’s also a sauna guests can use for free, a lovely way to unwind after exploring. Our room looked out at Edinburgh Castle, and waking up to that view each morning was unforgettable. The hotel is close enough to walk to the main sights, yet in a quiet spot where we could relax and sleep with the windows open. We’d debated staying on Princes Street, but were glad we didn’t: it’s noisy and busy. A five-minute walk gave us easy access while still feeling local. Apex Grassmarket Hotel was so comfortable and well placed. This was one of the best hotel stays I’ve had, and I can’t recommend it enough.

The family room worked well, and we had an amazing castle view. The location is the best part, and having a pool in the middle of the city kept the kids happy. For the money, though, it wasn’t great value overall. Breakfast seemed better value at nearby local cafes or the nearby Weatherspoon.
