The rooftop garden is a real jewel, and The Snug is beautiful with its Firepit. The Brasserie was nicely set up for breakfast, with a fresh continental selection and plenty of it. I didn’t try the cooked breakfast, but it looked fresh and had a good range of items. My room was clean and well presented, with crisp white linen, towels, branded toiletries and a mini fridge. I felt welcome throughout, with staff acknowledging me whenever we passed or I needed something. Reception explained the hotel’s charges and policies, room location and where breakfast would be. The concierge brought a glass of Prosecco after I checked into my room, then carried my bags up to the third floor. We had a nice conversation about my solo trip and whether I needed help arranging anything. Staff also gave me useful directions for transport, shopping, the theatre and zoo. After checkout they held my bags while I went shopping, then kept them again while I went to the zoo for the Lantern Trail. I was sad to stay just one evening. I’ll be back.
The room was perfect, with complimentary water and Irn bru in the fridge and lovely Elemis toiletries. Breakfast was first class after a small blip with the fire alarm. Reception staff were very pleasant, and Isaac was there at checkout to wish us a safe journey home. We were staying overnight to go to the theatre next door. Isaac met us on arrival, smart in his tartan, and explained everything in detail. He was very knowledgeable. We were also offered Scottish tablet and a glass of Prosecco to take to our room. We’ll return. Parking is next door at Omni car park, and the hotel has a discount code.
Breakfast was excellent, with food cooked to order as well as a continental buffet. There are nice restaurants, coffee shops and shops nearby, practically on the doorstep. The hotel layout is strange, but quirky, and I don’t mind that. The room was so well appointed, with easy to control heating, a fabulous bathroom and toiletries, and huge fluffy towels. It opened onto a grass terrace, which would have been lovely in better weather. Staff couldn’t do enough for us, always stopping to let us pass or greeting us as they went by.
Clean, modern accommodation with all the essentials you might need, plus a wonderful rooftop garden that’s worth a look. The staff were brilliant. Special thanks to Isaac and David, the day and late shift concierges. They were exceptionally helpful, communicated well, knew the area and could answer our questions and offer great recommendations. The hotel is in an ideal spot for a city visit, about a seven minute walk from Waverley train station.
We spent three nights here on our Christmas trip. The location is great and central, the staff friendly, and our room was great too. Some reviews mentioned refurbishment, but ours didn’t need any. It was a long walk to the room, but hey, good exercise. We didn’t eat at the hotel, with so many other places around, so can’t comment on the food. There was a wedding or party one night and it was very loud. We hadn’t noticed that they’d let us know with a letter under the door. We’ll be back.
