The staff seemed well trained and customer service was fine, but to me this is a two-star hotel at best. Rooms are tired, details have been neglected, and some areas were dirty. It could suit people who just need somewhere to crash after a night out, but be warned about the noise at night and into the early hours. There's little in the way of frills.

The staff at both check-in and check-out were very pleasant, so full marks there. For a budget night or two in central Glasgow, the price and location are hard to beat. I was there for a football match with a late kick-off and stayed one night in July; the bed was comfortable and I slept well. The room had the basic facilities, but felt dated and worn. The bathroom was the bigger problem: the tap felt ready to come off in my hand, towels were rough, fixtures were rusting, and the bath and shower were grimy, possibly dirt or mould. I didn't use the shower and waited until I got home to Edinburgh. Two improvements would help. There was no luggage storage, which is disappointing in central Glasgow and could be awkward if you have cases. Also, the main doors were locked when I returned late from the match. The hotel is attached to an Indian restaurant and I couldn't see another entrance, so I rattled the doors until someone I assumed worked at the restaurant let me in. A night porter, call number or door code would be useful, especially with hen and stag groups and people out enjoying Glasgow's nightlife. It's a decent central option for the cost, and with those rough edges fixed I'd rate it 4 or 5 stars.

The bed was decent, the room fairly quiet, and the bar and breakfast were okay for a 3-star hotel. The location is quite central if that's what you're after. But the place feels like it hasn't been renovated in decades: cracked tiles, missing equipment, torn carpets, cables poking out of the wall and cleanliness below standard. There was no lift available, and nobody offered help with the luggage. I got no useful answer about parking by email or on the phone, so I ended up overpaying. Staff were friendly, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel overall.

It's an old building, so some floors slope and you can feel it rumble when a lorry or train passes. Still, it was comfortable and convenient for the station and city. We needed two nights in Glasgow and didn't want to spend a lot just for somewhere to sleep. The room was clean and a good size, and the bathroom was very clean with a powerful shower. The lift is a little small but works. Staff were friendly and welcoming. It isn't a chain hotel experience, and it doesn't need to be; this was a great little place to sleep and recharge for the next day.

The room was a bit cramped, I had to turn sideways to get between the desk and bed, and it occasionally shook when trains or vehicles went past. Neither was too bothersome. I had hoped to arrive early, but check-in wasn't available until 3 pm. The location is excellent, right by Glasgow Central and within a 5-10 minute walk of anywhere in the centre. Fair value for the price.
