The spa service was excellent, and breakfast was probably the best food we had during our stay. The hotel is well placed for getting to different areas, but for what we paid, the rest was disappointing. We came with my mum and sister for a treat, and although the superior room was spacious, it stayed cold even with the radiator on. After my scalp massage, I went to wash my hair and found almost no shampoo and no conditioner in the shower dispensers. We'd booked treatments for our arrival day, but our room wasn't ready, so we had no robes or towels for them. That wasn't a huge problem, but nobody had told us; we only found out after changing and having to go back to ask for robes. The lockers were broken or very difficult to use. Lunch was booked, but the order came out wrong. Staff and the manager seemed unable to make simple substitutions, like changing bread for a wrap, without repeatedly checking with the chef. Dinner was a letdown too: burnt chips, a chewy fillet steak with an odd flavour, and cold fish for my mum. The food overall was overpriced for the quality.
Lunch was included with the spa discovery package and was excellent: soup options, three mains to choose from, chocolate mousse, and a glass of prosecco. As the driver, I was able to swap mine for 0% nosecco, which was lovely. The package was very good value, with robes and towels provided and access to the pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and heated beds. The pool is child-free between 12 and 3, which was the quietest time; other times were fine too. I went on Tuesday and Thursday, and had a spa treatment on Tuesday in a really relaxing area. Staff in the pool, spa, and restaurant were all helpful, and the service was excellent. We've promised ourselves a trip to the Westerwood once a month.
We had a spa day with two 25-minute treatments, pool and sauna access, and a three-course lunch. The lunch was tasty and filling, and the deal was good value, so I'd definitely recommend it. Julie gave me a full-body salt rub followed by a back, neck, and shoulder massage. She was fabulous, and I left feeling brand new. All the staff gave us exceptional service, warmly welcoming us first at reception and then at the spa. When one of our group felt a little faint, the masseuse and Helen both checked on her and made sure she was all right.
For my birthday, my friend and I stayed overnight. We arrived at 2.30pm and were warmly welcomed at the door and again at reception. The receptionist was lovely, explained the spa, and gave clear directions to our spotless room with a nice view. We relaxed in the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, heated loungers, and pool, then changed and went down for dinner and a few drinks. It was a lovely night. Breakfast was included for £9 each, with a buffet, cooked breakfast, and a full pot of tea or coffee each. Best hotel breakfast I've had in a long time. We could have kept using the spa after checkout, but sadly couldn't stay. Thanks to the staff for being so welcoming and kind. I'll be back.
This was our second visit to Westerwood with our toddler son, and the staff and service are still brilliant. We love the rooms and how accessible everything is, and the pool area is great too. It's a good all-round hotel for exploring the area or having a mini break. The team always makes us feel welcome and takes good care of us. Bravo!
