The breakfast was very good, served in a pleasant room with high ceilings and lovely Christmas decorations. After checking out, I was allowed to leave my bag until late afternoon, which made travelling around the area much easier. I was only there for one night and arrived very late, but reception greeted me with a smile and check-in was quick and easy. The bedroom was clean, spacious and very nice, and a hot shower was welcome on a cold winter night. It's close to the University and just a short bus ride from the city centre. Particular thanks to the woman covering reception and helping with breakfast. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

I left around 5 am because, as a woman travelling alone, I didn't feel safe. The location was good and I'd spent the day exploring, but I was too worried about someone getting in through the window to sleep. It had no lock. When I arrived, staff were smoking and chatting on the steps. My room felt very stuffy, so I opened the window that evening, then realised it faced a courtyard and didn't feel safe leaving it open overnight. In the morning a staff member walked past, stared in, and vaped outside, with smoke coming into my room. I'm severely asthmatic.

The room at the top of the building felt very worn. Several light bulbs were out, the paintwork was badly finished and flaking or cracked in places, and there was mould on the bath sealant. The window frames could use replacing too. Even with the thermostat under my control, the room stayed cold.

The room and the place were nice, though a bit away from the city centre. If you come back late at night, there's a code for the front door.

We were lucky to arrive on Saturday evening, since road parking was free from 6 pm Saturday until 6 am Monday, which made things more convenient. The hotel is in a historic building and was a handy, reasonably priced find for my family in Glasgow. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Best of all, the staff were very nice and helpful. 👍
