The Flying Fish Stables

We came back and stayed from the 28th to the 30th of November, and the rooms were definitely five star. Ours was a good size, warm and cosy, with a big comfortable bed, tea and coffee, and a nice bathroom with both a bath and shower. There were chairs on the porch outside each room. I can’t fault the place. Buddy, Kate and their team were friendly, helpful and chatty. We ate there both nights and loved the meals. The Penang Curry was a 10. Breakfast had a buffet as well as cooked options, and the cooked breakfast was really good. We’re already talking about another stay. Before that, we’d stopped in because friends kept recommending it. We didn’t go into the rooms, but they looked nice from outside, so I thought we might book another time. The views of the fields and woods were lovely, with untouched countryside all around. Staff and the owner were friendly, welcoming and chatty. The pub is decorated nicely, with British and Caribbean touches, and the menu has both British and Caribbean food. We didn’t eat on that visit, but the food looked nice. There’s plenty of seating inside and out, and the Wedding barn looked lovely too. They have live music, though it’s best to contact them to find out when. It’s between Ashill and Broadway, and has a comfortable atmosphere.

We went on Friday night and got a lovely welcome. The atmosphere was nice, and the food was good. I especially loved the pork belly, and the fish and chips were lovely too. Great all round.

The location is great and nice and quiet. Buddy and Kate are welcoming and genuine, and the room was immaculate with a nice big bed. The bathroom was great, especially the walk-in shower. I’ll definitely stay again.

The view is lovely, and the menu has some unusual dishes. We had a great weekend away here, with friendly owners and attentive staff. The rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious, quiet and warm, with a lovely big bathroom. The food was lovely too. Give it a try. If you don’t love it, I’d say you’re the problem!
