The Drayton Crown

Breakfast was outstanding, and even after a busy night the place was spotless. The young chefs came out to greet diners, something I haven’t seen in years, and added a personal touch to every dish. Nothing was a problem for them. After a cosy night’s sleep, we said goodbye to the owner. I think he may be showing the lovely establishment on series 4 of In a Bed in the new year. We paid £100 for the night with breakfast included, and I’d say it was worth double. Many thanks. The room was spotless and modern, and I loved the shower with its big rainforest feel. There’s ample parking and a play area for children at this lovely country house hotel just outside Langport. When we arrived, the service was personal and cheerful, and we were shown to our room. After unpacking, we went to the bar for lunch. The space was charming and contemporary, with a home from home feel. The bar team were relaxed but attentive, and offered to put our order on a tab, which made things easy. The menu was tasty and very reasonably priced; the food looked five star, and the staff seemed humble but proud to bring it out.
