Club Quarters Gracechurch

Great location, but I wouldn't stay here again. Our room was right beside the lift shaft, and the lift kept creaking and clanking past, probably more than 100 times after 2am, 3am and 4am. Counting sheep didn't help. The walls and doors were paper thin, and there was also a loud electric buzzing from somewhere inside another wall, with no obvious pattern. It was like an alarm going off and waking us each time. I can't imagine that many guests were moving around all night. Maybe it was night staff, elves, or borrowers? The room's nice decor and furniture didn't matter much when sleep was the main thing we needed. The hallway lights also weren't an issue, but the noise was. We only stayed one night, thankfully. Maybe better soundproofing would've helped, but I can't see why the developers squeezed a room beside the lift shaft instead of using the space for storage or plant equipment. Paying £180 for what felt like torture is absolutely not worth it.

The room quality was very high for the price, and check-in was easy. The location is great, and the lobby café was good. Staff were friendly, with water refill stations on every floor. Just a small inconvenience: the lobby toilet is tucked away in the gym downstairs.

Ismail deserves a special mention. He helped me several times and made the whole two-week stay more enjoyable. The rooms were a decent size, clean and well maintained. You can't go wrong with this hotel.

The room was compact, but very thoughtfully designed to use every bit of space, and the shower was lovely. Staff were so, so lovely too, and check-in was seamless. Bank tube station is about a five-minute walk away, with Spitalfields and Borough markets roughly ten minutes in opposite directions. Sky Garden is just two minutes away, and we highly recommend it for the city views. We'll definitely stay at this hotel or one of its sister properties next time we're back.
