Grand Royale London Hyde Park

The building is beautiful, and the room was clean and comfortable. Mine was small, but it was a single room and had everything I needed. I did get a bit warm because the air con was set to heating, so I opened the window. There are two tube stops a few minutes away, buses outside going to Oxford Street, and Hyde Park is a stone’s throw away. Breakfast had all the basics and plenty of choice. The bar is lovely, though the drinks’ quality and service were questionable. I’d absolutely come back.

We felt in good hands here, thanks to the wonderful staff, who were very helpful and made sure our luggage was safe. It was a pleasant place to end our UK trip. The hotel is across from Hyde Park, and you can easily get there. It’s also a block from both Queensway and Bayswater Station. Highly recommend it if you want to stay near the city centre and Hyde Park. We look forward to returning on our next London trip.

The staff were great, the location worked perfectly for us, and we were happy with the breakfast choices. Paddington station was about a 15-minute walk, and the museums about 30 minutes away. The common areas are beautiful, but the rooms need updating. There were water stains on the ceiling, cracked tiles, and peeling surfaces in the bathtub. The shower head had low water pressure, and the floors creaked loudly in both the room and hallway.

We arrived early in the evening on December 28th and walked into a freezing room. It was clear no heating had been on: the radiator was ice cold, and the air conditioner blew only cold air. Reception told us none of the hotel’s radiators or air conditioners were working. They offered a tiny portable heater, which was completely unacceptable. When we asked to change rooms, they said the hotel was full. A refund request had to go through the manager, who supposedly wouldn’t be available until the next day. The next morning, there was still no manager, and staff wouldn’t even give us a written note confirming the lack of heating. They showed no empathy or interest in helping, even though several other guests had the same complaint. We spent the night freezing and couldn’t sleep. Without question, the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had.
