Lancaster Hotel Spa

The receptionist was lovely, and the location worked well for what we needed. The room, though, was incredibly tiny and seemed set up for one person, even though we’d booked a double bed for two. We only got one towel, one cup and so on, which was very strange. A lot of things were broken, including a socket with huge cracks that couldn’t be used. The window handle was broken too, so it wouldn’t close all the way and a draught left the room freezing. It did the job, but unfortunately I wouldn’t stay again.

Lucy and Dean are a real credit to the Lancaster Hotel. They’re professional, approachable and clearly care about people. Both seem to take real pride in their work, and are understanding, supportive and willing to go the extra mile. It’s rare to meet managers who are so dedicated and kind-hearted. A big thank you to them for the way they carry themselves and the attitude they bring.

This was my first stay at the Lancaster Hotel while visiting Brunel University London for my studies, and it definitely won’t be my last. Being right on campus makes it ideal for students and university visitors. The staff are welcoming and the place feels like home. The room is a little small and has no fridge, but that’s fine for a short stay.

The staff and location were both great, but two things made the room hard to enjoy. It was incredibly hot, as if the heating had been turned all the way up because it was sub-zero outside, even though it was 23 °C. I was visiting a nearby care home for the elderly, and it wasn’t nearly that hot there. The residents would have died of heat exhaustion if it had been. Then I realised the dimness wasn’t from a blind. The window was blocked by a brick wall. Each room has an odd L-shaped window setup, with a narrow slit at the bottom and a small window above, so there’s very little natural light and the room stays dim. There was only one light, with a very dim bulb, and no bedside or side lights. It felt like staying in a hot cave. What a pity.
