Wilde Aparthotels London Paddington

The kitchen was what drew me in, and it lived up to expectations. I liked having both a fridge and a stove. The rooms were lovely, modern and clean, and staff even left snacks halfway through our September London trip. That was such a nice surprise and made me really happy. Thanks for a great stay! The hotel was also well placed for transport. Paddington is a ten-minute walk, with the Elizabeth line making the early trip to Heathrow easy for our 8:30AM flight. It took about 25 minutes. Great West Rail from Paddington was handy for Windsor Castle, and the Tube was well connected too. I’d highly recommend this place.

The hotel is comfortable, practical and in an excellent location. Check-in and checkout are easy to do by computer, and there are usually one or two staff members around if you need help. I’d recommend it. My problem was the early check-in I’d requested when booking through British Airways. The note said there might be local charges, but when I arrived at 11:00 AM, I was told it cost £20 and couldn’t be arranged that day. Nobody had contacted me in advance about the price, and when I said they should have done so, I was told that wasn’t their practice. Apparently, even when the trip was booked as a BA package, I was expected to call the hotel separately to request and pay for early check-in. That wasn’t explained anywhere. I had to change my plans and wait until 3:00 PM to check in.

We’ve settled on the Wilde Aparthotel Paddington as our new London base. On our many visits over the past decades, we haven’t stayed anywhere better. It’s clean and new, and close to Paddington Station and Little Venice. The room has a small kitchen and air conditioning, all for a price comparable to London’s two- or three-star dives that don’t even have AC. Service is limited, which suits the concept and price, but staff respond when we need rubbish collected or extra towels. They’re welcoming and helpful. There’s a little cafe downstairs, though we skipped it in favor of breakfast in the room, plus coffee and cook-at-home meals from nearby cafes and grocery stores.

We chose a one-bedroom apartment on the quiet 13th floor, served by four lifts from the lobby. The street is peaceful and close to Merchant Square, with Edgware Road and Paddington Tube stations both within walking distance. It’s a good option for staying centrally. The apartment was clean and furnished in a modern style. The kitchenette was compact but well stocked, including small milk bottles, a coffee machine and dishwasher tablets. You can request a high chair and cot in advance, and there was even a toddler toilet stool and seat. The sofa bed opened out to a reasonable size. The apartment was quiet. We skipped breakfast because it didn’t seem like good value. Early check-in from 12pm costs £20; checkout is 11am, and late checkout is £12.50 per hour. Secure underground parking is available in marked bays for Wylde residents for £25. You reach it using your room key via two or three flights of stairs. Lift access to the car park could only be provided by staff.
