Novotel Manchester West

Jo and Vaz have been head and shoulders above the rest of the staff. Jo mostly works in the food and bar area, while Vaz is on reception. They've made me feel so welcome that I wanted them to know how much they've meant to my stays. Just bloody exemplary. There are plenty of other great staff too, and the team overall is superb. I've stayed here most weeks for over six months, and the hotel has been great, apart from the odd hiccup. It's clean and modern, with spotless, comfortable rooms that hold up well despite the high traffic. The motorway location just off J12 M60 is surprisingly quiet, and it hasn't disturbed my sleep. It's a bit away from the football zones, if that's what you're after, but Worsley has some great restaurants at better prices than the city centre. The hotel is close to the Trafford centre and just outside Worsley, a beautiful little town worth exploring, with plenty of pubs and restaurants. I've eaten at the hotel twice, and both meals were good. The menu is limited but acceptable, though there are better local restaurants. Breakfasts at the hotel are very good. It's a three-star place that punches above its weight, with great staff, clean rooms and plenty of good food nearby. Don't look elsewhere for the money. I'll miss you as I'm moving further south.

The whole family gathering felt warm and welcoming, and there was plenty of space with good wheelchair access for our mum. We were glad the hotel could fit us in during such a busy time of year. We held my dad's wake there in December. When we first enquired, Janki (apologies if misspelt) was extremely friendly and approachable, and took time to give us lots of useful information. The hot and cold buffet in the restaurant area was plentiful and delicious, and that space made a lovely setting to celebrate and remember my dad's life. The younger ones also loved having a pool table in reception, and the hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. All the staff were professional and friendly. It was a difficult day, but they helped us have a lovely family get-together. Thank you.

The room wasn’t as good as the reviews had led us to expect. The bath plug didn’t work, and the thin walls made it exceptionally noisy. Check-in also fell below the standard I’d expect from the Accor group. In the morning, the car chargers weren’t working, so a queue built up and we had to find another option. The hotel seems like it could be nice when everything goes smoothly, but that wasn’t our experience this time. Nothing was horrific, just a lot of things that could be fixed. I still wish them the best.

The breakfast buffet is great, the prices are reasonable, and the staff are always friendly. It’s a bit out of the way, but this is still my favourite place to stay in Manchester. I’ve been back many times and have no complaints. It’s an older hotel, though parts seem to have been refurbished recently. The TV and bathroom, for example, feel fairly new.
