The complimentary sparkling water in the mini fridge was a nice touch, but the rest of the stay was awful. I barely slept, then woke with a migraine. I could hear the neighbours coughing and talking all night, even whispering, and doors slammed so hard the walls seemed to vibrate. The noise was frightening when I was trying to relax. Around 9am, cleaners gathered outside the bedrooms and chatted, waking me after the two hours of sleep I’d finally managed to get. The bed was rock hard, and the pillows were uncomfortably large, though that seems common in hotels. A bright alarm or detector light stayed on all night. The TV apps didn’t work. There was a long hair in the sink, stains on the carpet and sheets, mould around the windows, and the bathroom extractor fan didn’t work. It felt like too many corners had been cut, leaving a bad experience. My group definitely won’t return.

The room was boiling hot, and the window only opened about two inches. I wouldn’t stay here again even if you paid me. It was hard to find on sat nav, parking was miles away, and we had to collect the keys somewhere else, which was miserable in the dark after a bereavement. There was no restaurant as advertised. Instead, we were given a voucher for breakfast at some cafe on the university campus, with no clear location. This place shouldn’t be sold as a typical hotel or priced like one. It seems suited only to people attending university open days or, as I felt, anyone willing to be surrounded by students. It would make more sense as student accommodation. What a disaster.

The price was excellent compared with similar places, especially given how little notice I booked with, and I was very pleased with the stay. My room was clean, the bed comfortable, and there was a kettle with complimentary drinks. The shower was only so-so, but usable. It was quieter than I expected in the university campus area, close to the hospital. I arrived late for a one-night work trip and picked up the key at the security office, a straightforward process with friendly staff. Getting there by taxi was a little confusing, as there was no front door access. Thank you!

We booked for a gig at the university, and the hotel was well placed for it. Shops and the student union bar are nearby, and we took the bus into Norwich. The staff were lovely, the room was clean, and the tea and coffee were replenished each day. We’ll be back.

I enjoyed the stay and would definitely return. It was a different experience being on a university campus with most of the students away, and the gig venue was only 100 metres from the hotel. The receptionist was lovely and very helpful. My room and bathroom were clean, with fresh towels, a kettle and coffee, hairdryer, fan, and walk-in shower. The full English breakfast was great too.
