The buffet had a great range of sandwiches, savoury bites and cakes, and it was kept topped up. Staff kept checking that everyone had tea or coffee. We were there for a friend's wake, and the room felt roomy, with lots of seats around the big round tables. I didn't stay overnight, so I can't say anything about the bedrooms. I'd consider the Old Rectory for a family celebration.

The rooms are basic, but they're big and comfortable, and the value is hard to beat. Everyone was unbelievably friendly, too. Breakfast was a lovely full English, with eggs poached just right and nothing greasy. Beans and hash browns were available, though I didn't choose them. A good breakfast, nice people and a comfy room were all I needed.

We had plenty of parking, and Norwich was easy to get to from here. I spent Christmas at the hotel and couldn't have asked for a better place for the week. The staff were incredible, the room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast was delicious each morning. Thanks for having me!

The breakfast was good, but that was the only positive for us. The place needs a proper deep clean, and the famous tree with garlands wasn't lit. Calling reception means pressing a button on the wall, but it's tucked away and we had to ask hotel guests where to find it. I wouldn't recommend staying here with kids. The folding bed for our child had springs that sagged in the middle, and I felt awful for them having to spend the night on it.

The staff were especially friendly and helpful, and breakfast had lots of choice. The Old Rectory is in a semi-rural spot, handy for Norwich, the Norfolk coast and the Broads. On my second day the radiator stopped working, probably because of a fuse. With no maintenance staff on site on Saturday evening, they offered me another room down the corridor, which turned out to be the Bridal Suite! 😅 A very pleasant weekend break for me as a solo traveller.
