There's plenty outside to enjoy too, with picnic tables and walks offering spectacular views, including a good route for exercising a dog. Inside, the self service café is bright, clean and spacious, with a baby food preparation station, high chairs and a play area. Big windows look over a large duck pond towards the Cumbrian fells. The toilets are clean, and there are showers, baby changing and family rooms. Tebay is a welcome stop on our long coach trips to the Lake District and Scotland, with ample space for cars, coaches and trucks. I didn't have time to eat on this latest visit, but over the years I've had some really nice meals here. There's no fast food, just hearty breakfasts, hot meals and healthy salads made with organic produce sourced mostly from local farms and suppliers. Cakes and scones are delicious, and the coffee is good and strong. It isn't cheap, but I think the quality is worth the extra. The quick kitchen and farm shop are handy for the journey. I've often picked up freshly made sandwiches and pork pies for trips north, and highly recommend both. The shop also has good local produce, clothes, homewares and gifts. Staff are friendly and helpful. One of the best service stops I've visited!

The view from the window is great, and there's tasty food sourced locally and good service if you want to sit down, stretch your legs and have a hot drink. For a quick stop, you can be back on the road in no time. Even the filling station sells fancy artisan sweets. Can't complain.

There's a mix of options for quick bites, takeaway and sitting down, plus drinks, a hotel, petrol station and the farm shop. I still enjoy stopping here on the way, though it's usually pretty busy these days. The men's toilets are the disappointing part. They need an update, larger stalls and maybe a changing area. I'll stop at the southbound site on the return, and again here next time I'm passing.

It's clean throughout, wheelchair accessible, and has excellent places for dog walking and for children to stretch their legs. There's a great selection of food for different dietary needs. Some things in both the food and non-food sections are overpriced, though I found a healthy, affordable option at the carvery: vegetables and gravy for £6.50. Would recommend.

On our trips north we always stop here, usually to buy meat and cheeses. This time I was GF and had a look at the cake stand by the farm shop entrance, fully expecting to torture myself. After checking a few, I realised maybe around 40% of the items were GF. They do warn about possible cross contamination, so I'm unsure how suitable they are for someone with coeliac disease. But as a GF person, I spent more than I should have, and everything was literally to die for. Sooo good!
