The pub had a relaxed feel, not packed and not deserted, and there was a covered outdoor spot to sit even in the rain. The prices seemed reasonable. My room was clean and roomy, though getting to room 25 meant a confusing trip up several flights of stairs and through a lot of doors. The building is old but looked well cared for, and it's an easy short walk to shops and restaurants in the centre. The woman at reception and the pub was lovely, gave me useful information, and really went out of her way to help. I'd happily use the place again if I'm in the area. Food service had stopped by about 8.30 pm. Quite a few other places I tried were closed to food too, so I ended up getting takeaway and eating in my room. Parking is limited and doesn't cover all the accommodation, though I managed to get the last space.

The free parking was adequate, and the staff were warm and welcoming. It's a lovely old inn right in the middle of Stafford. My room was tidy, though some parts felt a little worn and the floors creaked, which makes sense in a building that's been converted over the years. I only had a small breakfast, and the way it was presented was a bit disappointing. The rest of the menu may well be good. I enjoyed my stay and would consider coming back.

The meal was hot and tasty, and the staff were attentive and lovely. We ate here with the family at lunchtime. Our order got mixed up, so our Grandson had to wait for his food, and a couple of options weren't available, which was understandable just after Christmas. The waitress mentioned there might be a wait, but it was fine and shorter than she'd suggested. I also saw the same waitress deal politely and professionally with a man at another table who was extremely rude after taking exception to something he'd been told. She was doing her best to explain, and he upset her. I don't think I could have stayed as calm as she did.

I had the window open because the room felt stuffy. There was some sound from the pub opposite, but it died down by about 9.30 and the street was quiet after that. The room was clean and had what I needed, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The very noisy people upstairs were banging about until 11pm, then started again at 6am. Their constant stomping woke me, and the old floorboards creaked a lot. I know it's an old building, but the doors also creaked loudly and could probably do with some WD40. I'd stay again if I found myself back in Stafford.
