The atmosphere was great, the staff were friendly and the beds were comfy. The little breakfast hamper was nice, though a cooked breakfast would have hit the spot. It was a bit noisy, with the pipes making a lot of sound and bar music coming through the floors.

The place has real character and charm, and it’s affordable without skimping on quality. A staff member welcomed us on arrival and showed us to our room, which was lovely and clean. There was also a hamper with breakfast items, plus tea and coffee. We didn’t use the bar or restaurant, but the bar looked like a cosy, typical country pub and seemed popular with people who weren’t staying there.

We used the hotel for NYE and would stay again. It was a good hotel at a very reasonable price. The staff were friendly, check-in at the bar was easy, and getting in after hours with a key was straightforward. There’s a good-sized car park at the rear.

Jane gave us a lovely welcome on our windy autumn night at this comfortable Wellington, Shropshire inn. She told us a bit about its history, including that it dates back to the 1600s, and showed us the comforts in our room. There was a picnic basket filled with plenty of things for the morning’s continental breakfast. The beds were great, parking was free, and the location was convenient. I couldn’t fault our stay and can’t wait to come back.
