The Trecarn Hotel

Absolutely shocking, avoid this hotel. The room had an old sprung mattress that was horrible, and a loose trapdoor under the carpet in the middle of the room was a trip hazard. We reported it and staff couldn't care less. There was also carpet lifting in the middle of a hallway, and someone had put a screw in it where people could cut their toes. The rooms have a 1960s army barracks feel and the building is in shocking repair. There's no cleaning during your stay, only when guests change over, and you have to buy your own loo roll and soap because they aren't restocked. See pictures attached.

We had a lovely stay and are looking forward to coming back next year. The food and staff were lovely, though the boiler broke on the first night, which was a cold day.

The restaurant staff were very good, the food was lovely, and the rooms have improved a lot since I last visited two years ago. The hotel itself has improved too. But the manager on duty on 12 July 2025 was extremely rude. There had been a room mix-up and some people didn't get a room until late evening. The way he spoke to one person in our party was absolutely disgusting. He definitely needs training in manners and people skills.

The buffet is great, grab as much as you want, and the food is good. Staff do a great job cleaning up after you, and reception and bar staff were polite. Beer prices are fair for a hotel. It's a little dated and a bit out of the way, but there are good bus routes.
