The spa was beautifully done and so relaxing, setting a lovely mood for our celebration. Raaj at the bar deserves a special mention. He made us an amazing cocktail, kept us laughing all evening and went out of his way to make our anniversary feel special. His energy and hospitality made the night unforgettable. We can’t wait to come back!

We had a relaxing, enjoyable weekend at voco Winchester and would recommend the hotel. It’s worth booking spa access and treatments well ahead, as availability was limited. We had a treatment on the first day and used the spa on both days. Our Grand room was spacious, bright and clean, with a very comfortable bed. We’d have liked windows that open for fresh air, though the room does have air-con. We ate in the restaurant four times for breakfast and dinner, and the food was very good each time, especially the pizzas. Service was impeccable. Staff handled our food allergies exceptionally well, remembered us, coordinated with each other and the kitchen, and made extra accommodations. It made meals easy and relaxing. Our one problem came on the second night, when a wedding was taking place. Guests on our floor came and went in large groups well past midnight, shouting in rooms and corridors and slamming doors. Reception didn’t answer when we called. The noise stopped only after we dealt with it ourselves. We’d have preferred reception to be available during the hours they advertise.

The room was large and nicely decorated, with a superb bed and linen, as I’ve come to expect from IHG. My only complaints were the tiny bathroom, awkward doors to it and the wardrobe, weak shower pressure, and air-con that seemed to cool only, even though it was freezing outside. A mini fridge would probably be useful in summer, too. And bring back the good biscuits! We stayed for two nights to enjoy the NY dinner event, sharing an excellent evening of food, wine and celebration with a great table of strangers until the wee hours. The bar and reception are lovely places to relax, and the dinner, breakfasts and pizzas were all good and good value. Staff were brilliant throughout. Thanks to Alan and Matt for great service and laughs, Kate for looking after us, and the friendly, helpful restaurant and kitchen teams. We’ll return for another great night.

The staff were so lovely, friendly, efficient and helpful. The hotel was in an ideal spot, looked recently renovated, and had a varied dinner menu plus an excellent breakfast. My room was large, clean and comfortable. Since a bus stops at the end of the drive, there was no need to take the car into Winchester. I hope to stay again.

I went to Voco for a birthday night out and would happily return. The night cost £170 between three of us, which is on the pricey side. The car park was easy to find, and they comped the parking, though I believe it normally costs £10 a day. The receptionist was kind and helpful. We got complimentary lavender biscuits and key cards on arrival, and the lobby is beautifully decorated. We’d booked an accessibility room, so I’m not sure if it was bigger than usual, but it was huge, with two large double beds, a desk, a big mirror and a lovely bathroom. Seven of us got ready in there without feeling cramped. They also left a thoughtful card saying to ask for things we might have forgotten, like sewing kits or a toothbrush and toothpaste. The room had a kettle, complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cookies. Staff were approachable and ready to help. There’s a spa for £10 if you’re staying, with treatments charged on top. My friend used it and said it was nice, like “a giant hot tub”; I didn’t have time to go. The hotel is a long walk from town, about an hour along a busy main road, so we took a taxi. The hotel called one for us, and it was £8 to the bottom of town. For accessibility, the wet room has a chair but no side rails for bed transfers, so call to check whether the rooms will work for you. A really lovely visit. I believe the receptionist was Jade, and I didn’t get the night desk assistant’s name, but all the staff deserve recognition.
