Atlanta Hamilton House, 7 Beds

The house was spacious and matched the photos, and it fit our needs for our child’s college graduation weekend. But the odor inside was awful, like mildew mixed with what I can only describe as a dead animal or body. We spent over $100 on candles, sprays, carpet fresheners, and other products trying to cover it. With no screens on the windows or doors, airing the place out meant letting insects in. The location also upset me: it’s on a busy street, with a bus stop at the front of the yard and two abandoned, run-down houses directly across the street. Before I even noticed the smell, seeing the location made me cry. The space and appearance were as advertised, but the other problems mean I’d never choose it again. Three stars was generous.
