Stratford

Anne even came in early on our departure morning to make breakfast sandwiches for us to take to the airport, since we’d miss breakfast. My partner and I were in town for a short trip to look at local wedding venues, and the staff made sure we had what we needed while giving us privacy. The breakfast was fresh, personal, and incredible. The location was perfect, too. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Bob went so far as to drive an hour to retrieve us after we lost our rental car key at a restaurant in a very rural town and had no way back to Stratford. Anne and Bob had been helpful from the start of planning through checkout. The B&B is comfortable, with beautiful, museum-quality furnishings. The bathrooms are tiny, but the shower got hot right away and had good pressure. It’s close to town without being in the middle of everything. Anne is a native and knows plenty of places to eat and drink, things to do, and hikes in Acadia National Park and around the island. I can’t say enough nice things about Stratford, Anne, and Bob.

Ann handled an issue one night, which was totally our fault, and went above and beyond to make it right. She was delightful, friendly, and knew the area well, with great insider tips for Acadia and Bar Harbor and interesting history about the park and region. Breakfast was generous, and the afternoon cookies were delicious. We had an excellent stay at the Stratford Inn and would definitely stay with her again if we return to Bar Harbor.

Room #5 has slanted side walls, so mind your head, but the bed fit my husband and me just fine. Ann made us feel right at home, and breakfast was amazing. We had to leave at 5am, and she even put together a breakfast-to-go bag. There was always a cookie or muffin available, plus wine and cheese every day from 5 to 630. Our experience at Stratford was amazing, and I’d highly recommend the Stratford Inn.
