The Painted Lady

My in-laws booked a couple of rooms when we stayed here in Oct/Nov 2025, and my husband and I had Madame Lou's room. We had our wedding reception across the street at Lumi. The room was beautiful to get ready in for our big day, and the bed was super comfortable. The staff left us a lovely welcome and congratulations gift with a note. It was so nice, and we highly recommend the place.

The rooms are gorgeous, with luxurious beds and showers, and I love that they preserved the antique buildings. My boyfriend and I came for one night away. I did hear everything outside our door, though, and as a light sleeper that's probably why I won't return, LOL. The lovely concierge leaves after 6pm, and there are no elevators, microwaves, mini fridges, or coffee makers in the rooms. You do get a smart flatscreen, and those limitations suited us fine. Nearby, I noticed a fried chicken place, a barber, and two tattoo parlors within walking distance.

I loved seeing the history in the building as I walked to my room. It's a chic, unique boutique hotel, and check-in was super easy. You can park in their lot behind the hotel or on the street. The finishings blend the period style with a newer, chic look and a nod to the past. My room was immaculate, with luxurious linens and toiletries, plus two guest robes. The Painted Lady didn't disappoint, offering a little mystery and a lot of luxury. Don't miss the chance to stay at this one-of-a-kind place.

Ashley at the front desk was the sweetest and made sure we had everything we needed. My husband and I came from Florida for a concert and spent two nights at The Painted Lady in downtown Birmingham. This fairly new boutique hotel felt elegant without being pretentious, and cozy and comfortable. Our room was bigger than I expected and beautifully decorated, with lovely bathroom amenities and robes. There was a small coffee and tea station down the hall. No big lobby for lounging, but an amazing craft cocktail bar on the same block gave us somewhere to relax with a drink in the evening. The lack of an elevator wasn't an issue for us, though it could be for others. Hanging space might be tight for a longer visit, but it was fine for our trip. There was a small fridge by the hallway coffee and tea bar, but none in the room, and I'm not sure if guests can use it. We loved our stay and hope to come back to Birmingham soon.
