Boston Homestel

A good old-fashioned Boston hostel/hotel. Our room was small but neat and very clean, and the bed was comfortable. We arrived late, but getting the entry password and communicating were easy. For one night, it was just right. I’d recommend it if you don’t need anything fancy or a TV.

Homestel Boston was cozy, comfortable, and clean, and I had a great stay. My friend and I got a warm welcome from Luís, the Brazilian volunteer. He gave us helpful Boston tips and information, helped us out, and even invited us to a few parties.

The beds and pillows were surprisingly comfortable, and the cleanliness and organization made the place feel high-end. There were cute paintings and little sculptures around the house, plus free oatmeal, tea, coffee, sunscreen, and towels. The kitchen had plates, cups, bowls, a microwave, and an oven. I booked a shared room but mostly had it to myself. I’m not sure anyone else was on the whole floor. The bathrooms and kitchen stayed very clean. I never saw staff, and emails went unanswered, though they did keep the place clean and took care of something I’d asked for. It’s a triplex in a quiet residential area, only a few subway stops from central Boston. The street felt a bit eerie at night with nobody around, but the houses looked beautiful from the window and the place felt secure. It was very quiet overnight, so I slept well. At first it seemed a little expensive, but having the room mostly to myself made it a great deal. It was a lovely, solitary base for a memorable trip to the Boston area, and I’ll miss it.

The check-in instructions were simple and clear, and the place was clean and well organized. I felt at home in this quiet neighborhood. There’s free tea and coffee too. Highly recommend!
