The first-floor hall had a pipe leaking from the ceiling, with a garbage can underneath catching the drips. Inside the dated room there was no fridge, the door didn't always latch securely, the shower drain was extremely slow, and the washcloth looked stained or dirty. The bedding was worn, dirty, and had holes. There was even a French fry left by the previous guests, so the rooms don't seem to get cleaned well. We skipped the free breakfast because of the property's condition, and I'm glad we only stayed one night. I wish I'd taken photos. You've been warned. The whole place, from the parking lot to the lobby and halls, looked dirty, run down, and dated. We booked for the price and location, but I regretted it as soon as we arrived and will research better next time. The area felt sketchy, with people living in their cars in the lot, and the lobby smelled strongly of curry. Nobody was at reception at first, so we rang the bell. A woman appeared with her baby in a stroller and checked us in. It all looked like it was falling apart. I don't know how this Super 8 has a 3.6 Google rating. Honestly, sleeping in my car might have been better.
Clean and quiet are what matter most to me, and this place has never let me down on either. My stays have always been pleasant. It's not especially luxurious, but the front desk staff are always really nice, and the simple breakfast is good and filling. With breakfast included, it's a bargain in Canon City. Highly recommend.
The only real downside was the smell. The bathroom looked clean but smelled horrible, and the room had a strange odor like leftover cigars smoke, even though the rooms are non smoking. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and patient, with great hospitality. I felt comfortable sleeping in the bed here, and the AC and space were perfect.
Breakfast is included, but there's no protein, so if you're diabetic, don't count on it for anything useful. A sign asks guests not to take food to their rooms, while the manager watched everyone eat from a table just outside the dining area. After I arrived soaked from riding my motorcycle in a rain storm, I asked for an extra towel or two and was told they cost $3/each. There are only 2 towels in the room, and the way the charge was posted on the wall was nasty. The parking lot had knee high weeds, and the whole property looked unkept. In the room, the AC was loud and didn't cool well. I slept badly because I was hot, then found out in the morning when I pulled the filter that it wasn't mostly see through as it should be. The bathroom fan was noisy and made the lights flicker from bright to dim, so I worried I'd shower in the dark. The shower pressure was worse than the rain. The girl who checked me in was super friendly, though her English wasn't great. The guy at the front counter felt kind of creepy. The room and bed were dirty when we walked in, with bugs along the wall edges and a mark across the ceiling that looked like poop, though it could have been blood. For the price and reviews, I expected much better. This should be a $45/night motel, not $100. I don't know who gives this place 4-5 stars, their standards must be lower than mine, and mine are low.
Check-in was fairly easy, but the room was scorching when we got in. The air was completely off. The clerk said it was just hot on that side of the building, so we went outside for an hour to let the room cool down. After a day of travel, we wanted a relaxing evening with our feet up and the TV on. It eventually became tolerable, but the TV kept shutting off at random and only worked now and then. We told the clerk the next morning, though his English was very limited. Very disappointing Wyndym.
