Carlisle House

We booked through Airbnb and had a great stay. The host was easy to work with, my Tesla could be charged there, and breakfast was included and pretty good. The downtown location was great too.

Staying in Jessie’s room felt like being at a friend's home, and the bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get up. The beautiful historic house is centrally located, with convenient parking. Staff were friendly and communicated well before we arrived. Breakfast was amazing, especially the quiche; the steel-cut oats with fruit were great too. Everything tasted so good, I think they could sell it from a food truck. I can't recommend the place enough.

The room was really enjoyable, and the location was great for the price. But for someone like me, nearly 80 and fond of B&Bs for their personal touch, this place fell short. There wasn't a host to greet us, correspondence gave no person's name, and it felt like only hourly employees were there. At check-in time, 3:45, no one was present and we were expected to use the keypad at the back. We arrived at 7:45 for coffee, but the door was locked until the hourly host came around 8:05. Once the hourly staff go home, no one is there. Breakfast wasn't special: likely quiche portions, applesauce, two kinds of muffins, a bowl of grapes and strawberries, and a small fruit selection. You can choose an 8 or 9 AM seating, and I bet you'd get the same food on a stay of several days. I also disliked having to use two TV controls, one for channels and one for volume.

We stayed in the English Library room and found it very pleasant, with a comfortable bed and a great big shower. The quiches made fresh for guests each morning were fantastic, especially Brittany’s. Everyone on staff was pleasant and ready to help. Right in the heart of Downtown Carlisle, it was a great value for the cost.
