Red Roof Inn Carlisle

For the price, it was a great place to crash for the night. We arrived late, and the staff were around and friendly. Our room was neat and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel seemed empty and short on character, but they said they’d only opened a few weeks earlier, so we gave them some slack. The paint smell was still around, though after a while we stopped noticing it.

The room was nice and a good price, but the shower needs a new head and the hair dryer should be replaced. Breakfast could use some protein beyond bread and cereal. Staff came into our room to start cleaning before we’d checked out, before 8 am.

The bed was too hard for me to sleep on, and all night it sounded like the person upstairs was dragging a chair across the floor. Our room smelled as if someone had smoked in it before us, even though it’s meant to be a nonsmoking motel. We used to stay here often years ago, but this one-night visit this past week was a big disappointment. We asked for a ground floor room because we had our puppies, but were put on the second floor. The room felt tiny and had very little light. The water was hot, but the pressure was terrible, and the motel clearly needs updating. During check-in, the front desk woman seemed more interested in talking on the phone with another employee. I’ve stayed at nicer Red Roof Inns that were just as outdated. I won’t return to this location; next time I’ll stay in Harrisburg.

The room had no garbage cans, and the hair dryer was caked with dirt and grime that looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in years. It also smelled bad, and the shower was set up strangely and creaked when I stood in the middle of it. I told the receptionist about the problems, but she just looked at me and didn’t apologize or respond to my bad experience. I didn’t feel safe at this Red Roof Inn location and wouldn’t recommend anyone stay there. Terrible customer service.
