The owner was one of the sweetest people I’ve met. She clearly explained how everything worked and shared some history about the building, which was nice to hear. The place is an incredible building right in downtown Charleston, with everything within walking distance. An incredible stay, definitely recommend it!

Donna, the general manager, made the stay. She was gracious and welcoming, gave us great suggestions for things to see and do, and anticipated what we needed with maps, cold water, and a bottle of wine for our anniversary. The inn was close to the historic sights, theatres, and great restaurants we wanted to visit. Our room was very comfortable, with crisp linens, plenty of towels, a well-appointed bath, and a separate living area that was great for reading or relaxing. Breakfast was delicious, served on lovely blue and white china on the breezy veranda, with fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, and excellent hot coffee. This charming inn is just what a B&B should be and more. I highly recommend it.

Afternoons on the porch were a lovely chance to rest our legs and sip Donna’s lemonade. The inn was perfectly placed for exploring Charleston on foot, close to many of the best sights, and our suite was comfortable. My wife and I visited in June 2024 for our babymoon. Donna was thoughtful and incredibly hospitable. We told her we hoped to move to the Charleston area someday, and she took time to sit with us and offer great advice. P.S. Donna, you convinced us to move down there. See you soon! We’ll be back down in June.

Donna House, the property manager, goes above and beyond, and her exceptional breakfast on the beautiful veranda is the best part of our morning. We also love sitting out there in the evening to relax and enjoy the scenery. My husband John and I return to Charleston and 27 State Street often. We’ve stayed in many places nearby, but this one is the best and truly feels like a second home. The location is ideal, within walking distance of the market, restaurants, Waterfront Park, and other historic spots. The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are comfortable. Donna, you’re the best. We can’t wait to visit again!

Donna made us feel at home and put together a great breakfast. She even packed some food for us to take along when we had an early flight. The room was super clean, and the building has a lot of charm. We stayed in the State Room, and both the location and booking experience were excellent. Everything we needed was close by, and we’ll definitely be back. The one thing some people may notice is occasional street noise, since the State Room is right beside the road. Depending on the noise, turning on the TV or sound machine should take care of it.
