The Limited Charleston

The Limited staff showed little concern for the trouble this caused us. They seemed to be going through the motions instead of helping us feel comfortable or valued. There were no apologies or efforts to make up for the disruption, just a general lack of care. We had booked a king bed weeks ahead, but at the replacement hotel we found a cramped, uncomfortable room with two queen beds. No one told us about that change until we arrived there. The move also put us much farther from the wedding venue, turning what should have been a 5-minute walk into a 20-minute trek and adding unnecessary stress. Things had gone wrong before we even arrived: they had an HVAC problem, but only emailed us about it two minutes before check-in. There was no call or earlier heads-up, and no comparable place arranged. I’d been looking forward to the stay and expected check-in to go smoothly, so the whole experience was a disaster from start to finish, one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve had. I wouldn’t consider staying here again, and I’d urge anyone thinking of booking to be cautious, since they may not put your needs or comfort first if something goes wrong.

That birthday surprise really made the stay for us. After dinner we came back to a note wishing my wife a happy birthday, along with wine, fruit, and a charcuterie board. The staff were so kind throughout, and the downtown location made getting around Charleston easy. We had a great visit and will come back.

The meeting was a success, and Sheldon and Caitlin made organizing it much easier than I expected. Sheldon patiently worked through all my questions and held the boxes I’d shipped ahead; he even brought a heavy one over to a restaurant for me. Caitlin handled the food, drinks, and event coordination with real care, and Ben was a gem during the event. I’d have no hesitation booking another event at The Limited Hotel. For my own stay, Lilla at reception was a lovely first point of contact, friendly and helpful. The hotel felt modern and was very clean. My room was spotless, the bed comfortable, and the desk and chair worked well when I spent a whole day working there. There were plenty of charging ports by the bed, and the air conditioning and heat were quiet and easy to adjust, which I especially appreciated. King Street is only a block away, so I could walk everywhere and felt safe. I’d happily return whether I was in town for work, an event, or fun.

Jesus at the valet deserves a special mention. He was friendly, stayed on top of things, and took time to check that we had what we needed. The staff were kind and attentive, the king room was spacious, and we enjoyed the pool too. I’d recommend it for a good stay in a great part of Charleston.
