Courtyard by Marriott Chattanooga Downtown

For business trips to Chattanooga, this is one of my go-to spots, largely because of Vee at the front desk. She knows the area, gets check-in done quickly, and has suggestions for food and entertainment. She's professional, has a great personality and smile, and makes you feel welcome. The hotel's in the middle of a great mix of food, bars, and entertainment, with easy access to 24&75 and other local routes. The staff are great, and the price is affordable for a place near the heart of the city. You won't be disappointed booking here.

Parking costs $18, which some people might not love, but that's downtown for you. Comparable places are going to charge a lot for parking too. Autumn kindly got me the penultimate room for my business trip. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, the staff were friendly, and the location was convenient.

We've stayed here several times over the years and would happily come back. The staff were kind, helpful, and resourceful. There was some renovation work going on, but it was easy enough to avoid those areas, and our room had just been renovated with very nice, higher-end appointments. It was surprisingly quiet despite the construction.

I had noise disrupting two of my three nights here, so I wouldn't recommend it if a good night's sleep matters to you. On Saturday morning a crew set up a crane to move materials to the hotel roof. The work itself didn't start until 7, but they were making plenty of noise an hour earlier while getting ready. Today, a trucker delivering to the Mellow Mushroom on the next street parked right below the room I paid for. He started at 3 am and made as much noise as he could, leaving the truck idling the whole time. Every few minutes it purged air from the hydraulics.
