The shower head could use more pressure, but that was my only real criticism. We were passing through Chattanooga and wanted to skip the usual chain hotel, and this turned out to be a fantastic find. The building is large, the atmosphere is fun, and John made the place feel like a trip back to the 1920s, from the entrance to the flapper in the billiards area. Ask John for the tour to room 311. Great experience.

My family had fun in the pool, though a few more seats around it would help. The hotel is nicely decorated and in a convenient spot near everything downtown. Our room was a good size, but the beds and pillows were just okay. The shower was the biggest frustration, with a tiny spout and weak pressure that made washing long hair difficult. Otherwise, it was fine.

We had a spacious, comfortable room with a bed that made it easy to unwind. The whole property was spotless, down to the gleaming chrome and dust-free surfaces, and you can tell people take pride in maintaining it. Staff were warm and attentive throughout, starting with a friendly welcome when we arrived. The Read House has real charm and deep history, and its central Chattanooga location made it easy to enjoy the city. The service was thoughtful without feeling forced. We’d gladly come back.

The Read House offers old-school hospitality in a great location, and the price was competitive. The accommodations were top notch and the service impeccable. If you want the standard modern luxury experience, it may not be the right fit, but I’d choose it for its history and authentic character.

The rooms were nice, and this is a pleasant independent historic hotel. The steakhouse was only so-so, with what seemed more like sirloin than a $65 ribeye. There’s plenty of space in the gym, but it needs more equipment. Coffee in the lobby or room would also be welcome.
