The desk clerk was friendly and helpful, and the room and lobby look fresher after mild renovations, with new carpet and furniture in the rooms. The bed was comfortable, and having a desk and sofa was nice. Hyatt members at any level seem to get free bottled water at check-in. Breakfast had a waffle bar, egg bites, yogurt and hard-boiled eggs in a mini fridge, plus juice and coffee machines. The coffee was like brown water. I figured the market is there so guests can buy frozen breakfast and microwave it in the room. The room still has the same old junky air conditioner and heat unit. The tubs have been removed for platform showers, which look weird because the faucet is very low relative to the new floor. The bright LED lights on the new switches are annoying at night, and you have to cover them if you like sleeping in the dark. It’s a former Hyatt Place converted to the new "Hyatt Select" brand, which ends up feeling like a scaled-down Hyatt Place. It earned its 3-star rating.
Gas at the stations around the hotel was usually around 20-30 cents cheaper than in the surrounding areas. The on-site staff were really wonderful. Karen helped me with anything I needed, and the other front desk folks I interacted with were just as great.
For a one-night stay when you just need somewhere to sleep, the hotel was nice enough, and the staff were very nice and professional. I stay at Hyatts 60 - 70 nights a year, and I’ve never been to a property with so many people and kids running up and down the halls, screaming and slamming doors.
The staff were great throughout, and the room was large and clean with good accommodations. The fitness center was just big enough. Chelle was the standout: she shipped my CPAP machine after taking my information, and I expected to just pay and have it sent ASAP. She called back to go over the charges, and her extra effort saved me over $300! When I called on my way home to ask if I’d left the machine there, someone from the front desk went up to look personally. I also needed scissors, and they had those too. Service was unbelievably friendly and helpful.
The hotel looks much nicer than other Hyatt Place hotels, and the staff were very nice and hospitable. The infrastructure let it down, though. Even with the heat set to 75F, the heater didn’t work. I had to run the fan all night to get some warmth. I arrived very late after work and was too tired to raise it with staff. I also didn’t think it could be fixed without replacing the thermostat. The elevator buttons wouldn’t light up or show whether they’d registered, so I had to press them several times like a Casino slot machine. Breakfast was very limited compared with other Hyatt Place hotels and definitely needs an upgrade.
