Check-in was very inconvenient. You have to pay a deposit through PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle, then send proof of payment before you get the entry code, and everything is handled by email or text with no one there to talk to. The deposit is outrageous: $500 for locals and $300 for everyone else. Other reviews say you may or may not get it back, at their discretion. The beds are very uncomfortable. BEWARE!

We stayed three nights and enjoyed concerts, fireworks, fine dining, and what I think are the best beaches in the world. The place was affordable and friendly, with convenient access to several public transit lines that go downtown. An Uber or Lyft downtown was about $10, give or take. We'll definitely return to McCormick place guest house. It's our go-to hotel in Chicago from now on.

I never even got inside the property. They demanded a $300 or $500 deposit through Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal, and I didn't feel the request was right. The staff were also very rude on the phone. BEWARE!

Fraud alert. I booked two rooms through hotels.com, where the property page said they accepted credit cards. After booking, they emailed asking for a $300-500 deposit per room through Venmo or PayPal. I refused because it was unconventional and their page had said they'd take credit cards. They then refused to check me in and didn't refund the cost of my nights. After more than seven calls to both the hotel and Hotels.com, neither would resolve the issue.

We'd already paid for two rooms when the hotel suddenly asked for another $600 through Venmo. When we questioned the suspicious request, the staff were extremely rude and wouldn't refund our money. A very shady and unprofessional experience. I'll never go back.
