The breakfast was barely there: Fruit Loops, corn flakes, and five brown bananas. The pancake machine had no batter, the juice dispenser didn't work, and the owner brought milk from his home after I asked. His wife and he watched me closely while I fixed a bowl of off-brand cereal. That awkward meal came after a miserable night. I arrived late in heavy rain and cold weather, and the host was friendly when he gave me room 125. By midnight I found the heater only blew cold air. The thermostat was set to 89° and its front panel was off, like it was being repaired. I suspect the owner knew it was broken. I was too tired to do anything then and slept cold for a few hours. In the morning, the shower was only lukewarm. With almost no one staying there, I don't think the hot water had simply run out. The room and water both left me freezing. I usually only review places after a bad stay, but this one made me appreciate the other motels around Chico. I wouldn't stay here again.
