Super 8 by Wyndham Atlanta Northeast GA

I booked this place because it was near where I needed to be the next morning. The room was okay and, most importantly, clean. The floorboards were warped, the lamp was crooked, and you could see the paint touch-ups. Still, $90 for one night felt like too much, especially since they don’t offer breakfast like other Super 8s. We stayed at a lovely Super 8 in W. Virginia for $60 a night, with a simple but nice breakfast bar. Stop using COVID as an excuse. Super 8s seem to have different owners, but they should still meet an overall standard, and this one didn’t.

The room was disgusting from the moment we walked in. There was an awful musty smell, the floorboards were bubbling up, and the whole floor was sticky. We booked because the listing promised free breakfast, but when we asked what time it started, the desk guy rudely said they hadn’t served breakfast since before Covid. The website is wrong. We had a non-smoking room, yet there was cigarette ash in the bathroom, which says a lot about how well it was cleaned. Someone had also taken the shower curtain and a light bulb, and the hotel hadn’t replaced either. Somehow the TV was still on the wall, even though it was hung with a piece of string. They’d plastered the wall holes but hadn’t painted over them. This is one of the worst Super 8s I’ve stayed in. We’ve had decent experiences with Super 8 before, so we’re confused about how Wyndham lets this place operate like this. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

The room I got first looked obviously used, like nothing had been changed. They moved me to a second room, but it was infested with bugs. I have no idea what bit me, but my arms and legs are covered. I had to argue before they’d move me again. The third room was cleaner and nicer. The place was dirty, seedy, and nasty, with black mold in the fridge and other mold on the walls. They advertise breakfast as included, but there’s no breakfast.

We found a needle and straw in the room, which hadn’t even been cleared of drug paraphernalia. There’s a lot of drug use around the hotel, and it smelled strongly of urine. This doesn’t feel safe for women or children. There’s no free breakfast, the showers were moldy, and the floor tiles were loose.
