SureStay Plus by Best Western Cannon A.F.B.

There’s some confusion with the Best Western next door, so look for the Sure Stay signs to find the right place. Once there, we got personal, attentive service. My wife needed an early check-in while we were traveling separately, and the staff were lovely when I called ahead. Nancy was greeted with, "Youre husband called ahead...." When I arrived, they welcomed me with, "....your wife is all settled in..." It was nice to be remembered. Breakfast was great, our room was spotless, and the shower had plenty of hot water and pressure. The room was well appointed, with plenty of 110v, USB, and USB-c outlets.

After a delicious breakfast, I talked with the owner and could tell how much he cares about the business. He said they’re renovating the whole property and has clearly thought through the details. We were a little wary driving into town, but the room was much cleaner and more updated than we expected. The service and quality at this Super 8 really impressed us. I’d recommend it for a family or solo stay, and felt comfortable here.

The location was the one drawback, and the laundry was out of service, though the neighboring property let us use theirs. Still, this seemed like a better choice than the nearby motels. My husband and I stayed two nights, and our room was clean and updated. The staff answered all our questions cheerfully and went out of their way to meet our needs. Breakfast was decent, and the egg omelette was good.

It’s right off the highway, which is handy if you have to stop while road-tripping. The area smells terrible, though that’s not the hotel’s fault, and fortunately the smell didn’t seem to get into the rooms. Our non-smoking room still smelled a bit smoky. I can’t compare it with other Super 8s, but the reviews seemed a little misleading. It was manageable for one night, just quite outdated and grubby looking. Not exactly dirty, but not nice either.
