The clean bed was a relief, but the rooms weren’t great. Our first one had no AC, though they moved us quickly. In the second, the sink was backed up and vomit came up through the drains. There was mold on the bathroom and bedroom ceilings, and hair balls and Bobby pins on the floor. Check-in itself was quick and easy, and the front desk woman was polite.

The main problem was the exercise room, which seemed to be there for show. It was poorly arranged and nearly useless. The treadmill stopped while I was on it and I nearly fell; after I tried resetting it, it ran for about 20 seconds. The elliptical and bike worked, but were quite old. There was no remote for the TV or AC, so it was warm, and the hand weights weren’t matching pairs. I also found it offensive that Fox News was on all the public TVs. The rooms were okay apart from a stale smell and some bad carpet stains. The staff were friendly enough, and breakfast was typical for this kind of hotel.

The first room they assigned hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest. They moved me to #208, but that room had a loud, squeaky AC, a TV remote with no batteries, and a shower door that wouldn’t close, spraying water over the floor. The bathroom tiles were loose, and the subfloor felt like it might be rotting. At checkout, another guest mentioned their drains were clogged. This place needs maintenance.

The pipes in our room squealed every 5 to 10 minutes and made it hard to sleep. There was a musty smell in both the hallway and our room, and the toilet paper holder fell off the wall. They need to fix things instead of merely maintaining them. The hostess wasn’t friendly at all, and her greeting made it seem like she hated her job. That’s what my wife and I get for trying to save a few bucks on a MOTEL, oh, I mean an Inn & Suites. What a joke.
