Holiday Inn Express & Suites Colorado Springs Central by IHG

Breakfast had a fun option I haven't seen at other Holiday Inn Express locations: sometimes there are hot tortillas and hash browns so you can make your own breakfast burrito. I really liked that, though ketchup and hot sauce aren't enough for burritos, please add salsa. The classic cinnamon rolls were back this time too. I stayed for work in Room 424, the King Suite. It was spacious, tidy, and clean, and the stay was quiet with friendly staff and good value. The kitchenette light switch is by the main door, though, so you have to walk back out to turn the lights off at night. A bit inconvenient, but not a deal-breaker. Be careful pulling out of the parking lot onto Spruce Street. The incline is steep, and your car's underside will scrape if you don't go slowly and carefully. I'd definitely stay again.

My daughter and I came for a girls-only trip and booked with points. When we arrived, there was a homeless camp outside the hotel, and as two women traveling alone, we didn't feel safe staying there. I called to explain and decided we'd find somewhere we felt comfortable and secure. They said canceling would cost $27 and I might lose my points. I accepted that. The next day, though, I was charged $150. Calls to the hotel and corporate office went nowhere, with each saying the other had to deal with the charge and lost points. I tried to explain our safety concern, but the manager offered no help. He said they'd contacted Colorado Springs PD and couldn't do anything about the camp outside their building. At one point someone told me the owners had changed, but corporate said they had no information about an ownership change. I've never had trouble with any other IHG location. I absolutely do not recommend this place. Crooks, with no regard for women's safety!

The rooms are comfortable, but the freeway nearby makes them quite noisy. There's a message posted saying they're working on installing better soundproof windows. The parking lot is spacious, though it has potholes that need fixing.

Everything was comfortable and easy, just what I needed. The room was spotless, the staff incredibly friendly, and the price was unbeatable for the quality. Had a great stay. Highly recommend!
