The rates were excellent, and the room was beautiful and spacious, with a full kitchen that even had a dishwasher. The bed was comfortable, and check-in was quick. John had my key card ready in minutes and offered me a complimentary bottle of water. I couldn't have breakfast because of my travel plans, but the room was busy and smelled delicious. I'll definitely book Home 2 Suites Columbia SC next time.

The daytime crew was friendly, but the night clerk was no help after my truck was stolen 60 feet from the front door. Twelve hours had passed, and the general manager still hadn't shown up to check on things. It was 2 p.m. by then, so thanks for nothing, Jason. Local police told me the area has a lot of property crime, so check that out before booking. Like the commercial says, where you stay matters, LOL.

The female employee working Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and evening was rude and seemed uninterested in being there. She shouldn't be in customer service. When a customer walks in, how about saying hello? I called to report that the hot water wasn't coming through at full strength, and she answered, "Oh, no one has reported it." The bathroom floors and shower weren't properly clean. Clean the baseboards and the bottom of the shower. If there's no housekeeping on Thanksgiving, put more supplies in the bathroom. Also, staff should get off their phones when a customer comes in. We're paying your salary. There were dirty dishes in the breakfast area tubs on Wednesday.

We'd stayed at this location before and had a good enough experience that I thought the negative reviews didn't match what we'd seen. This will be our last visit. After more than 12 hours at a softball field in the hot summer sun, we wanted hot showers and sleep, but this Hilton property had no hot water at all. We'd checked in online through the Hilton app as soon as the room was available. The front desk man was kind and moved us when the microwave in our first room didn't work. He apologized for the water issue and said we'd get a discount if it wasn't fixed within two hours, or a full refund if it still wasn't fixed after that. We were exhausted and it was late, so we waited. Before checkout the next day, I asked whether the credit or refund had been applied. The female clerk said she'd been told there was no hot water when she checked in, then said we'd have to speak to general manager Jason the next day and I'd need to call him. I asked for his email or direct number so I could leave a message, but she said he had neither voicemail nor a direct email address. Really? I work at a school, so it's hard to find time for personal calls during business hours. I planned to update this review with the result. Update: I couldn't reach Jason at first, but I did speak with him later and received a full refund.
