Our safari tent with a private bath was tucked toward the back of the campground, and seemed quieter than the tents closer to the lobby tent. It made for a unique camping stay and had everything we needed after days out in Glacier. There’s no wifi, but our Verizon service worked fine for watching shows on the iPad at night. The staff were excellent, and everyone we spoke with went out of their way to answer questions and help. We enjoyed the stay and plan to try other Under Canvas locations. The train didn’t bother us, though I know some people complain about it, and the whole town hears it all night. I appreciated that the campground provides earplugs.

The property was very clean and well kept, and the service was great apart from the refusal to refund us. If the highway weren’t there, this could have been perfect. Our tent was only a few feet from a busy 80-mph highway, and the constant traffic noise inside and outside was overwhelming. It was nothing like the peaceful “disconnect in nature” stay advertised. My family barely slept. Staff offered earplugs and a noise machine instead of a real fix. This wasn’t a matter of being a light sleeper. The noise during the day pushed my stress through the roof, and after just one night I had to cancel the rest of the stay. Under Canvas refused to refund anything, which was very disappointing and not as advertised. I’m still amazed that so few people seem to find that level of nonstop noise unacceptable, and that the business got a lodging permit. If you want to rest and disconnect, find a real hotel that stands by its quality standards.

The wooded setting felt cozy and private, and the tents with private bathrooms were spacious, comfortable, and charming. For two people over 65, it was just the right amount of clamping. We enjoyed the food at Embers, and every staff member we dealt with was friendly and provided excellent service. The nighttime trains could bother some people, but they didn’t bother us. A wonderful stay at Under Canvas Glacier.

The tent itself was spectacular, but the Under the Canvas near Glacier Park was much less enjoyable than the one I visited at the Grand Canyon. It’s very, very loud, with a busy road nearby and trains blaring their horns day and night. Sleeping was nearly impossible. The food at the Grand Canyon was much better, too.

The camp was lovely, the service was great, and we liked our tent. The beds were comfortable, and we enjoyed the life music in the evening. Still, we slept very badly, even with our own earplugs. The camp sits right beside a major highway with traffic throughout the night, and the train passes several times a night, very loudly. It’s the main train line from Chicago to the West Coast. We’ve stayed at other Under Canvas locations and loved them, but this one was really terrible. Such a shame, because the concept is wonderful. For the money, I truly wouldn’t recommend staying unless you’re completely insensitive to noise, though that defeats the point of seeking an outdoor experience in nature.
