The breakfast was phenomenal, with fresh fruit and excellent service. But this hotel had been our go-to for years, and now it’s time to find another place. Maintenance has been deferred: door hinges weren’t connected and door stops were falling off. The worst part was the pool, which is why we always came with the kids, since they love the pool and hot tub. The hot tub looked like a swamp, bubbly for reasons other than the jets, and the water was too murky to see through. It was a serious health and biohazard. The hotel was told the night before, but didn’t fix it or even rope it off. The front desk kept saying it would be taken care of. There were no poolside towels at 10 a.m.; people had to ask for them to be refilled. It’s not worth at least $140 a night for something you can’t even enjoy. When I contacted Hilton, they only refunded the 5,000 points I’d used, not the other $117.

We left within 30 minutes of getting our room, got a refund, and I was in tears over how the stay turned out. The woman at the front desk was kind and could see how upset I was. The lobby looked beautiful at first, but once we looked around, we found what seemed like health hazards throughout the hotel. The room was covered in mold and mildew, the walls were warped, the bathrooms were disgusting, and the beds were stained. The pool was thick and milky, and the hot tub was brown and swampy. Mold covered parts of the pool room, especially around the windows. Soon after arriving, my kids said they didn’t feel well and had headaches, and my own head and throat hurt too. The amount of mold was unreal, and I still can’t believe they’re operating like this. It’s filthy and needs to be closed for the health hazards and renovated immediately. Please listen and book somewhere else. I left hysterical. The reviews make this hotel sound perfect, but after traveling a long distance for vacation, we were extremely disappointed. I honestly still can’t believe what we found. Trust me, it’s disgusting.

We’ve stayed at many Embassy Suites over the years, and this one doesn’t feel like it used to. We were there for a family function for two nights, and we travel to Corpus Christi once or twice a year. The front desk staff were welcoming and friendly throughout, and the location earns it three stars. After a two-hour trip, we arrived in time for evening snacks and drinks: cubed cheese, wilted salad, ranch, and crackers. There was also a grill where you could pay for food, and a limited free wine and beer selection, with spirits available for purchase. For a decent breakfast, you had to wait in the omelet line, and food wasn’t restocked promptly. I had some coffee, but dining overall was underwhelming. Our room was big enough for us and our teenage son. The first morning we laughed when we saw the fitted sheet was too small and held on by the thin mattress topper. We needed towels the next morning, but nobody answered the phone. It feels like they’re cutting corners, so we’ll look for another hotel next time.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the only part of this hotel I liked. The building needs work, and parking was terrible at night because there aren’t enough spaces. There was blood on our cloth shower curtain. The kitchen-to-bedroom door stuck and was hard to open, and the bathroom door also stuck, making a loud noise when we had to force it open or shut. The AC wasn’t cooling properly at 4 p.m. when we checked in. It felt cold and hot at the same time, and I thought it might just need time. We went out for the evening and got back at midnight; around 5:30 a.m., the AC stopped working completely. I usually count on Embassy Suites for a consistently nice stay wherever I go, but this location proved me wrong. I won’t stay here again.
