La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Dallas I-35 Walnut Hill Ln

It was a comfortable room overall, and in a pinch I'd consider this a decent place to stay. I'd give the room 7/10 and the service 8/10. It was a little hard to find, but I had a good experience overall. There were a few issues: the shower head had hard-water buildup and very low pressure, and there was no bed protection, which could lead to an infestation. The remote looked tacky, with its back missing and clear office tape holding it together. Our room also shared a locked connecting door with another room, so we could hear the neighbors at any time.

The customer service was bad. I raised several concerns with the manager, who gave me attitude and seemed to have no sympathy. I asked for towels multiple times before they finally brought some. Nobody checked on my trash or dirty towels, and there was a big roach in the sink. I told him about it and he didn't care. I had already stayed over a week and wanted to extend because I had no other option. He argued with me and wanted $247 for three more days, which the hotel wasn't worth. He also tried to charge me a $50 late checkout fee, even though I'd told him that morning I was at work and couldn't pay until I got off. I even offered to pay by phone. He said it was fine, then changed his position. He tried to call the police to make me leave. When I checked out, he said nothing would be charged to my card, but two days later he took $100. Don't book.

The area looked more run down than put together, and it's the kind of place where I made sure to lock the doors at night and leave nothing valuable in the car. It was still within 30 minutes of various places. For a quick stop, it could work, but I wouldn't stay here again. It was a learning experience. We stayed for a week. The morning-to-night front desk clerk was really nice and helpful. In the first room, the TV wire was torn so the TV didn't work, the shower pressure was weak, and the alarm clock wouldn't stay on while plugged in. I called the desk and he moved us to another room, which was better. Breakfast was trash on the two days we tried it. The eggs were wet, nasty, and undercooked, as were the sausages. It was disgusting, so we bought our own breakfast and food at the store for weekday mornings. That was better than what they served. At night there weren't any small towels available for guests. I called to ask for some, but they were unavailable, and housekeeping hadn't restocked them during the earlier room service, leaving only large towels. Luckily, I still had the small ones I'd bought.

The service was amazing, and breakfast was small but good, just enough to get the day started. The hotel has been redone and felt comfortable. We were a little nervous when we first pulled up because the area was run down, though not horrible, but we decided to give it a try. If we come back to Dallas, we'd definitely stay here again.
