SpringHill Suites by Marriott Los Angeles Downey

The included breakfast was well stocked, and the rooms were clean, spacious, and quiet. There’s a hair dryer and iron in the room; the dryer isn’t great, but it works. The town feels homey, quiet, and safe, and the hotel is well lit at night with plenty of parking around it. They also lock the second main door at night, which I appreciate.

I was able to get into a room early thanks to Isaac from Operations, who kindly took the time to look for one when I arrived well before check-in. I hadn’t expected them to fit me in, so I really appreciated the effort. The staff were friendly throughout, and I felt well cared for, whether traveling for work or personally. There weren’t any of the usual hotel lotions in the room. That didn’t bother me much, but if you rely on those, bring your own. The location works well for tourists and locals. Dunkin' is right next door for coffee, and Stonewood Center and Downey Promenade are close by for shopping and a movie. The World’s Oldest McDonald’s and Columbia Memorial Space Center are nearby too. I’ll be back.

I travel to a different Marriott every week, and these extra charges added to the room are not normal. The system feels shady, so be prepared for them and consider not using your main card. If location isn’t the reason you need to stay here, I’d choose another hotel.

Michael was attentive and polite from check-in through all the times we crossed paths, and he went out of his way to make my stay comfortable. As a Bonvoy ambassador, I think he shows what the brand should aim for. Good customer service is what brings me back and sets one property apart from another.
