That bed was super comfortable, better than the one I had at Extended Stay America. For me, a great bed is what matters most, and this one felt like something from a $400-plus-a-night hotel. The price is only $37 a night, after all. You can stay here and drive to a conference in the city, and sometimes gas costs less than a city hotel. You can't even stay at your mom's house for $37 a night. A few things aren't ideal. There's carpet right by the shower, though it looked new and clean, so bring slippers. The curtains don't block the sun. There's a dollar store within walking distance if you want to buy something cheap, like a black trash bag, to cover the window. In winter, turn the shower on hot and let it run for 10-15 minutes before getting in. The front desk may be unstaffed later in the evening, so if there's an issue, you might have to call the number and wait 10 or 15 minutes. At $37 a night, that seems reasonable.

The bed bug was the last straw, though the shower pressure was nearly nonexistent too. I brought my kids for a night of hot showers and laundry while everything else in the area was frozen. They'd told me upfront there were no water problems. Maybe they just weren't bothered by it. The low pressure might have been from pipes freezing around town, but it wasn't our biggest problem. We were waiting to use the building's one washer and dryer while watching TV when a little bug crawled from under one of the fresh pillows they'd brought over. There were four of us checked in and only two pillows in the room. Looking closer, it was a bed bug. There was no room phone, so I went to the front desk, found nobody there, then called the contact number from my cell and told the young woman what we'd found. They quickly gave us another room, but it was smaller and had just a shower and curtain in the corner, with no separate shower room. For privacy, I had to leave while my daughters showered, hoping they could wash off any bugs hiding on them. They also gave out my room number. It happened to be my nephew asking, but they had no way to know that and could have called to check. I only gave one star because Google won't let me leave zero or less. I'd pay the extra $10 or so across town and stay as far away as possible. True rating: negative 5.

We only stayed one night, and I wasn't satisfied. The hotel has a different setup than we're used to, and while I can't blame them for where it's located, we did see the bugs mentioned in other reviews. They also wanted $75 for the pet fee. My main issue was being charged for two queen-bed rooms when there's no way those beds were queens. They told me their only full-size beds were in the double-bed rooms.

It's no Ritz Carlton or five-star stay, but the rooms, grounds, and shared areas are always clean and orderly. The staff are ready and able to help with anything that comes up, and they do it quickly. Small, locally owned American hotels and motels are rare these days. This owner and management team, along with maintenance and housekeeping, genuinely care about guests. Some guests are dealing with serious challenges, and the team still treats everyone with great courtesy, dignity, and respect. That's truly rare now. Also, I've never stayed at another motel where I could see so many deer before dawn and after dusk on nearly every day.

Room 119 was the worst room I've ever tried to stay in. I left at 10 p.m. because of bed bugs and other problems. The bed bugs were the final straw after I'd already felt uneasy. The AC couldn't be used because its plug was burnt, the shower light had a short, and the shower wall appeared to have mold. That seems like a way to get someone electrocuted. Calling the place clean in its advertising feels fraudulent. Most of the photos online must be from another hotel. The pictures I took look nothing like them. I'm a Safety Officer, and I don't understand how this place passes state code inspections. It seems to break many NFPA codes and put guests in danger. I didn't want to give even one star, but had to in order to post this.
