Fairgrounds Inn

The room had no clock or refrigerator, and the bed was turned sideways so even my feet hung over, and I'm short. The AC was extremely loud and didn't cool well, the walls were thin enough that I heard everything, and the hard floor felt cold and slippery. I nearly tripped getting over the high tub because there was no mat. The only positives were that it was clean and the front desk staff were nice.

The place was old and dirty, the elevator was broken, and there was standing water in the stairwell. Our second-floor main window was broken. The refrigerator and microwave were filthy, the toilet kept clogging and overflowed, and the indoor heated pool wasn't warm. Breakfast was gross too. Our neighbors left their dogs barking and whining all day. There was a sign saying no housekeeper was on duty, and we were told to bring our towels to the front desk. We had no do-not-disturb sign, so we asked that nobody enter, but someone came in anyway, only emptied the trash, and turned on the AC even though it was 20 degrees outside and we'd set the heat where we wanted it. The owner turned off our whole team's key cards in the morning, well before checkout, and we had trouble getting back into our rooms.

Everyone was so nice, and the rooms and pool were super clean. We had a great time, and the location was beautiful. My family didn't even mind the six-hour drive, and we just had breakfast.

The elevator was out of service, and there was no ice or vending machine on the second floor. In our room, the door wouldn't latch properly and one lock was broken. The bathroom light was out, the smoke alarm hung from the ceiling by a wire, and the walls and headboards felt sticky. The blinds were broken too. This hotel wasn't the best.
