Courtyard Durham Near Duke University/Downtown

On an earlier visit, I liked the location just off exit 174B/I85, near everything, and the hotel was clean, modern, colorful, and cozy. I appreciated that it welcomed pets and had snacks for them in the lobby, plus a fireplace inside and a fire pit outside. The bed was very comfortable, the shower incredible, and the TV had plenty of channels, including Showtime. But on my recent return to visit family in Croasdaile, they gave away our reservation while we were in town for a funeral, even though a lacrosse team needed rooms. That was deeply disappointing and changed my rating from four stars to one. I wouldn't recommend the hotel or trust them with a reservation after that.

Check-in was quick and pleasant, and the room was clean with comfortable beds. The hotel is older and could use remodeling. In the bathroom, there's a tub shower, a small sink counter, and a very low toilet. There were stains on carpets in the elevators and hallways, and the bistro breakfast was greasy.

Tianna went out of her way to make my family and me feel welcome. Our room was spacious and clean, the beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of parking spaces.

I liked the kidney bean shaped sleeper sofa, and the gym was nice. The bed was comfortable, with a lovely weighted comforter that put me right to sleep. The shower had good pressure and hot water. Jeffrey and Shameka at the front desk were both friendly, helpful, and informative. Our group had lots of questions about things we hadn't known.
