Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Durham Southpoint

The staff were polite and accommodating, and the gym was above average, but the indoor pool was closed. There was a three-hour breakfast with the usual choices, though unlike some Fairfield Inn locations there wasn’t coffee available all day. My room’s water never got hot, just a little warmer than tepid, but I didn’t complain since I was only there one night. The mattresses were very soft, probably because of their age, so maybe ask for a room with newer ones when booking. It’s a convenient location for my needs, with a Chick-fil-A and gas station/convenience store an easy walk away, plus other shops, groceries, and restaurants within a couple of miles. The place was surface clean, but the furnishings were dated.

Deena at the front desk was the best part of our stay. She went above and beyond at check-in and again when we needed extra help. The hotel was nice, with a great location and an excellent breakfast, especially the hot proteins and oatmeal bar. The rooms have some wear, but they were comfortable. We’d stay here again. We brought about 15 high school students here for a weekend competition, and Ellie made sure we had what we needed, including reserved spots for our activity buses. The whole staff was helpful and nice. We’ll definitely bring our group back.

I needed a restroom while I was nearby and really didn’t want to use one at a gas station, so I stopped here. The lobby was spotless, and the restroom looked just as good. Housekeeping deserves a shoutout. If the public bathrooms are kept this clean in the middle of the day, I bet the rooms are even better.
