Days Inn by Wyndham Elizabethtown

When I dropped off my relatives, the first room they were given was already occupied. The second had a broken TV, and the third smelled like mold from the air conditioner. They tried to get their deposit back, but the owners yelled at them, refused to return it, and said they had to contact a third party for their money. The place is a dump, with cigarette and mold smells.

We left early after finding a bed bug on the pillow the morning after our first night. I took the pillow down, and the same gentleman who had brought us hand towels confirmed what it was. The towels had been missing when we arrived late the previous evening, and it took a while for him to bring some. He said they had more than 60 bookings. Our room wasn’t the one we’d selected, and although I saw a building permit, the rooms clearly need renovation. At checkout I asked the manager to make sure my card wouldn’t be charged for the next two nights. She took $20 off the first night only, so I guess I’ll have to call my credit card company. I’m worried about bringing bed bugs home and whatever costs that could mean. Room 109, visit 7/02/2021. Good luck.

The staff were really nice and helpful throughout, and when we had car trouble the next morning, they let us check out late for free. That made it hard to decide on a rating. The room was fine for a short stay, with a shower that had great pressure and heat, but the bed cover had odd stains and visible repaired tears. The sheets looked okay. I had a sleeping bag in the car, so I used that instead.

The staff were so kind and helpful, which made it easy to overlook some dated details. The AC was old and dusty but worked hard, and the curtains could use a cleaning. The room was mostly clean, with matching bedding and towels and no signs of bed bugs. For the price, it was better than I expected from an older roadside hotel. After a long drive, it gave us what we needed for one night, and I was very satisfied.
