Eleven Boutique Hotel

The one thing I'd change is the pillows, which could use an upgrade. Otherwise, we were pleasantly surprised by Eleven Boutique Hotel. We got the best rate in town the night before and on Thanksgiving, nearly $100 a night less than most other options. The decor is a little old school, but the rooms were clean, roomy, and had the amenities we needed. The bed was comfortable, and I loved the atrium. We didn't get to use the pool, but it looked well cared for. We'll definitely be back.

We were passing through when the snowstorm caught us, and the hotel still had a room available when we called. It was a little hard to find because there wasn't a big sign. The man checking us in offered a quick room tour before we decided. We chose a regular room since we planned to leave very early. The pool worked, but the hot tub in the enclosed pool area didn't. He said rooms with their own hot tubs were available at different prices. Our room was a good size, though it was the disability room, so I can't say how the others compare. There was only one trash bin, and two would've been useful. Coffee was available in the main area. I wasn't sure about using the ice machine. The TV had no cable and maybe ten channels. The front desk was staffed only from 9 a.m. to midnight. On our way out, we noticed some main doors were unlocked, which might be fine in a small town like this.

As a local, I've had problems at most of the other hotels, but not this one. The staff are very helpful, and the rooms are clean. The laundry and pool are also kept up really well. For quality, price, availability, and cleanliness, this is definitely the best choice in Emporia.

My room was 403, right across from the front desk. The first night I noticed a couple of bites but thought they might be mosquitoes. Around 1:30 or 2 a.m. the next night, I got up to use the bathroom and saw bite marks all over my left arm, which was swollen. I checked the bed and found a bed bug at the headboard, then another on the floor. I ran to the desk around 2 a.m., but nobody was there. Later that morning, while I was packing, my mom saw another bug crawling on the bed and we killed it. I showed the staff my arm with about a dozen bites and gave them the napkin with the bugs we'd killed. They called their boss and told me I'd get a full refund. Later they said they hadn't found anything and wouldn't refund me. I have video of staff saying I'd get the full refund. The hotel has no visible sign outside, though the room looked decent at first. The staff clearly don't care and lied to my face. I still wasn't refunded. Do not stay here.
